Overview
A treasure trove of a cursed pirate ship has been uncovered by an alliance of pirate captains. Now it’s every captain for themselves to plunder the loot and their former comrades. But beware! The Black Spot Curse can be laid upon pirates that steal the loot of their fellow captains.
Collect the most valuable treasure by any means while avoiding the most dangerous curses.
Setup
Remove all jokers from the deck.
Shuffle together hearts and clubs for the Pirate Deck
Shuffle spades into their own Cursed Deck
Shuffle diamonds into their own Loot Deck
Discard once from the Loot Deck and Cursed Deck
Deal out three Treasures to the trove. Each Treasure consists of one face up diamond card and one face down spade card
Each player draws five cards from the Pirate Deck
First to say “I’m going first” goes first.
On Your Turn
Discard your hand if you have any cards
Draw five cards from the pirate deck
Discard one card from your hand to peak at a face down curse card in the trove
Take one Treasure from from the Trove and place it in front of you before dealing out another Treasure (One face up loot card and one face down curse card). If this is the last Treasure, the game ends after this turn.
Do as many of the following that you please
Steal a Treasure from another player by playing the same or greater value of crew than the Treasure you are stealing. For example; You need to play a value of at least 13 crew to steal a King, though you can play more. If you successfully steal a Treasure then you must take any curses on it as well. Warning: Reaction may be taken!
Purify a Treasure by playing at least one rum card to flip over a curse, then you may play additional rum cards. If you play a rum card of equal or greater value than the curse, you purify it and discard the curse card.
Reactions
You may do one of the following when someone attempts to steal your Treasure:
Fight: If you play crew from your hand of equal or greater value than the crew used to steal your Treasure then you prevent the theft and retain your treasure.
Curse: If your Treasure is stolen you can discard rum or crew cards from your hand of equal or greater value to the card value your opponent used to steal your Treasure to place any of your curse cards (facing up or down) onto any of their Treasures. They still steal your Treasure.
Game End
Once the final Treasure is taken from the Trove, that begins the final turn cycle. Once every player has completed their final turn then each player adds up their Treasure (loot minus curses) to find their loot score. The player with the most loot wins!
